The Story
In 2011, I sold my truck and moved to Austin with one thing in mind: photography. I earned my BFA in Photography & Fine Art from the Art Institute of Austin in 2015, and I've been behind the camera for over 14 years. Austin's been home ever since.
I see photography like this: imagine a carousel of moving pictures in front of you, and all I have to do is reach out and pull a daisy each time. That's what a session feels like to me—finding those moments that were always there and making them visible.
Here's what I believe: an image can be used for you or against you. I'm here to use it for you. To shine a light on the part of you that's been waiting to be seen. To make visible what was always there.
I'm a creative at heart, not just a photographer. I've hand-engraved axes for the set of Terminator: Dark Fate. I created an event called Fire & Ice that inspired hundreds of creators across Austin—and I met my wife there. I've danced east coast swing, lindy hop, and blues. I've been to Burning Man three times. Every one of those experiences shaped how I see people and how I photograph them.
Photography is the through-line in everything I do. I see something in people, and I know how to pull it forward—to capture what I see and make it feel just a bit larger than reality. Life's about perspective, and this is mine.
My Approach
You're Already Iconic
I don't create something that isn't there. I capture what already exists in you and make it impossible to ignore.
Effortless Experience
No stiff posing, no awkward silence. I move fast, keep the energy up, and guide you through every frame. It's easier than you think.
Bigger Than Life
Every image should feel cinematic, deliberate, and a bit larger than reality. That's the Joe Lucky signature.
